NBSSI, MasterCard support artisans
The National Board for Small Scale Industries NBSSI in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation is assisting 190 apprentices in the Atebubu-Amantin municipality with the objective of creating employment for the youth.

The NBSSI entered into a partnership with the Foundation in 2019 under which 39,000 youth mostly females are expected to be trained under the youth entrepreneurship and employment program in three years.
According to Mr. Isaac Oppong, the Municipal Head of the Business Advisory Centre, the intervention which comes under the ‘apprenticeship to entrepreneurship’ module of the foundation will have beneficiaries, attached to master craftspersons for periods between 6 months and one year to enable them to sharpen their skills in order to get them ready for the job market.
Trades under consideration include hairdressing, dressmaking, fashion and design, Bridal decoration, and carpentry. Others are welding and fabrication, catering, and bakery.
He said each master craftsperson will be allotted 3 apprentices and will receive between GHC 500.00 and GHC 1000.00 per head as remuneration under the arrangement.
Mr. Oppong pledged the readiness of his outfit to roll-out other programs to ensure that the youth especially are equipped with the requisite skills to create jobs and to reduce unemployment.
