AKUAPEM N: State-of-the-Art ICT centre for Amanfro community

Information Communication Technology (ICT) or internet related communication has become an essential part of every individual’s life and plays an influential role in our day-to-day activities.

The use ICT has also offered the platform for technology related activities which cannot be underestimated in the field of education.


It is for these reasons that the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, yesterday, commissioned a State-of-the-Art ICT-centre for the pupils of Amanfro, a community in the area to aid the teaching and learning of ICT in the area.






The facility is expected to afford pupils with the practical aspect of ICT training and facilitate their understanding about the world ITC.
Speaking at a colourful event, the Minister for Communications and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Madam Ursula Owusu Ekuful expressed her optimism that, the facility will help the government realize its vision of modernizing the socitey, using ICT as the fulcrum.







According to her, this would not be the last as government works tirelessly at creating an ICT driven society on foundations such as the Ghana Card, Paperless transactions, Biometric cards across agencies, cashless Banking system among others.


She said ICT was growing quickly across the world; hence it is important that the entire education framework be improved, especially in developing countries like Ghana to help catch-up with other developed countries.







In order to achieve this, the Minister concluded that, government was bent on ensuring that every deprived community is provided with an ICT facility to enhance its study.


Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dennis Edward Aboagye, on his party commended the Minister for her long-standing passion to expand the use of ICT in the country.






He advised the pupils to reciprocate what has been provided them by studying hard to pass their exams.


Meanwhile, also present at the event was Hon. Dan Botwe, incumbent Member of Parliament of Okere and Minister for Regional Reorganisation & Development.
