Hon. Adongo was joined by officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Municipal Works Department on an inspection tour of communities frequently impacted by heavy rains. The team closely examined major drains, natural waterways, and areas affected by encroachment to evaluate factors that could exacerbate flooding.

A significant part of the exercise focused on identifying old and dilapidated buildings showing clear signs of structural distress. Several structures were flagged as unsafe and at risk of collapse, particularly during prolonged rainfall or strong winds.

During the tour, the team engaged with residents and property owners, offering immediate safety advice and stressing the urgent need for repairs or, in extreme cases, evacuation.

Hon. Adongo underscored the Assembly's commitment to disaster prevention through proactive measures. "Monitoring these flood-prone areas and vulnerable structures is not just an exercise; it is a critical step to prevent the loss of lives and property," he stated. He called on all residents to support the Assembly's efforts by keeping drains free of debris, desisting from constructing in waterways, and strictly adhering to building regulations.

The monitoring exercise concluded with the Assembly reaffirming its dedication to taking the necessary steps to mitigate potential disasters. These include engaging with relevant state agencies for support, enforcing planning and building regulations, and intensifying public awareness campaigns on disaster preparedness.
