GCDL Company to Be Revived Soon – Denkyembour DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyembour, Hon. Urma Armed, has disclosed that efforts are underway to revive the Ghana Consolidated Diamonds Limited (GCDL) at Akwatia in the Eastern Region.

Ghana Consolidated Diamonds Limited, formerly known as Great Consolidated Diamonds Ghana Limited (GCDGL), is Ghana’s commercial diamond mining company, located at Akwatia, the capital of the Denkyembour District.

According to Hon. Urma Armed, the revival of the company would provide significant employment opportunities for residents and help reduce the high level of unemployment among the youth in the district.

He said the return of the company to full-scale operations would create opportunities for young people to secure jobs and improve their livelihoods.

Hon. Urma Armed expressed optimism that the revival of GCDL would contribute significantly to the economic development of Denkyembour and restore the district’s position as an important hub for diamond mining.

He said the Assembly would continue to support efforts aimed at reviving the company and creating a more vibrant local economy for the people of Denkyembour.
