The exercise formed part of preparatory activities leading to the deployment of contractors to the site for the implementation of the government’s flagship market infrastructure initiative aimed at boosting local trade and economic activities within the district.
According to the DCE, the landmarking exercise was necessary to identify both permanent and temporary structures likely to be affected by the redevelopment project to ensure proper planning and smooth execution of the initiative.
Madam Dzeklo said the Assembly had directed the Works Department to mark all affected structures and compile a comprehensive register of current occupants to ensure transparency, fairness, and effective stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
“No trader will be left behind in this process,” she stated, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive development and the protection of the interests of traders and market users.
The DCE noted that the delegation also toured the market to assess existing infrastructural challenges, particularly drainage problems, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and create a more conducive trading environment in Dabala.
She reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to transforming the market into a modern commercial hub capable of supporting the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda while creating jobs and stimulating economic growth in the area.
The exercise was attended by Assembly Members for Dabala and Dalive-Torzikpota, Mama Akobo III of Dabala, the Market Queen Mother, officials of the Assembly, and other key stakeholders.
