“There is no market at Yohe, we have to travel two miles to buy food stuffs”- Yohe Assemblyman

Joseph Kwame Ayenorgu, former Assemblyman for the Yohe Electoral Area in Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana, has point out a critical need for a market, adding that the absence of a local market has made residents face hardship, by traveling miles to Agormanya for vital foodstuffs.

This distance, he noted, presents a daily challenge for the community.

Despite this difficulty, Mr. Ayenorgu points to notable achievements during his tenure including securing land and plans for a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, which was then completed with the support of the Municipal Assembly. This crucial healthcare facility represents a significant step forward for Yohe.

Furthermore, Mr. Ayenorgu, with funding from the Apostolic Church Foundation, supervised the construction of two boreholes, one in Yohe and another in Agormanya Methodist, each costing GHS 110,000.

He also provided a well pump to the Sokoenya community within the Yohe electoral area. These projects significantly improved access to clean water for the residents.

Having completed his term, Mr. Ayenorgu urged his successor to prioritize the construction of a market in Yohe. This would improve the daily lives of the community members, eliminating the long and difficult journeys to purchase food and other necessities. “The lack of a local market remains a significant challenge that requires immediate attention”. He stated.
