Biakoye DCE, Stakeholders Inspect Progress of 24-Hour Market Project at Tapa Abotoase

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye, Hon. Eric Opong Kwaku, has joined key stakeholders to inspect the progress of work on the government's 24-Hour Market Project at Tapa Abotoase in the Oti Region.

The inspection team included the project consultant, Fast Thinkers Consult, the District Engineer, traditional authorities led by Nana Osei Bonsu I, Tapa Abotoasehene and Gyasehene of the Tapa Traditional Area, and the Assembly Member for the Aboabo Electoral Area, Hon. Otumfuo Theophilus.

During the visit, the contractor, Be Nice Construction, conducted the delegation around the project site and outlined the various components of the market. These include trading stalls, stores, cold rooms, a Fire Service office, a Police Post, a daycare centre, a Women's Development Bank facility, and several other supporting amenities designed to enhance commercial activities in the area.

The inspection formed part of efforts to assess the pace of work, evaluate the quality of construction, and identify any challenges facing the contractor, the Biakoye District Assembly, and traditional authorities, who are key stakeholders in the implementation of the project.

The project consultant, traditional leaders, and officials of the District Assembly expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work. They also welcomed the contractor's assurance that the project had encountered only minimal challenges, attributing the smooth implementation to the strong cooperation and support of the local community.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Eric Opong Kwaku, commended the contractor for the progress made and urged the company to maintain high construction standards throughout the project. He also encouraged Assembly Members and residents of Tapa Abotoase to remain vigilant and promptly report any substandard work to the District Assembly to ensure immediate corrective action.

The 24-Hour Market Project is expected to boost economic activity, create employment opportunities, and improve access to modern market infrastructure for traders and residents in the Biakoye District.
