The Scheme was introduced by the government to aim at creating thousands of jobs for beneficiary communities among others.

The Minister, Mr. Kweku Asomah- Cheremeh stated during a brief ceremony that, in 2019, the small scale mining sub-sector contributed 36% of the total gold produced in Ghana hence the launch to foster jobs.

He encouraged all stakeholders to make the scheme work effectively for the benefit of the community and the country at large.

On the other hand, the Minister presented 35 pieces of veronica buckets, 10 packets of tissue paper, 15 boxes of liquid soap as well as 30 boxes of hand sanitizer to the Tinga Community to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The items which were funded by the Ministry through the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) are being distributed across mining Districts.
