The distribution, which took place at Atta Ne Atta in the Amenfi Central District, forms part of efforts to increase local poultry production, improves household livelihoods and contributes to food security.

Under the initiative, beneficiaries are supported with poultry birds and other inputs to enable them to establish or expand small-scale poultry enterprises. The programme is designed to promote local production and reduce dependence on imported poultryproducts.

The initiative is also expected to create employment opportunities for farmers and other actors along the poultry value chain, while providing beneficiaries with an additional source of income.

The Assembly's support for the programme is part of broader efforts to promote agriculture and strengthen the livelihoods of residents through practical interventions in the farming sector.

Beneficiaries have been encouraged to properly manage the birds and adopt good poultry-rearing practices to ensure the sustainability of the initiative and enable them to expand their operations.

The ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ programme was introduced as part of the government's agricultural agenda to increase poultry production across the country. Under its first phase, beneficiaries receive birds, feed support and technical guidance.

The intervention is expected to contribute to improved food production and economic opportunities for farmers in the Amenfi Central District.
