Sefwi Wiawso MCE Empowers Persons with Disabilities with Income-Generating Items and Assistive Devices

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to inclusive development with the successful distribution of income-generating items and assistive devices to persons with disabilities within the municipality.

The initiative, aimed at promoting social inclusion and economic empowerment, seeks to equip beneficiaries with the necessary tools to improve their livelihoods, enhance their independence and actively participate in the socio-economic development of their communities.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the MCE noted that the intervention reflects the Assembly's dedication to supporting vulnerable groups and ensuring that persons with disabilities are provided with equal opportunities to thrive.

According to the MCE, the provision of the items goes beyond meeting immediate needs, as it is intended to create sustainable sources of income and improve the overall quality of life of the beneficiaries.

"This intervention is designed to empower our brothers and sisters living with disabilities to become more self-reliant, economically active and better positioned to contribute meaningfully to society," the MCE stated.

The support package forms part of the Assembly's broader social protection and inclusive development agenda, which focuses on creating an enabling environment where no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress and prosperity.

The MCE further stressed that development can only be meaningful when every individual, irrespective of physical ability or circumstance, is given the opportunity to realise their potential and benefit from available opportunities.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly for the support, describing the gesture as timely and impactful in helping them overcome some of the challenges associated with disability.

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has reiterated its resolve to continue implementing programmes and interventions that promote equity, dignity and empowerment for all segments of society.
