The district currently has a total of 23 health facilities, comprising one district hospital, two health centres, two polyclinics, 16 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, one private clinic, and one maternity home.

Despite this expanding network, the district is grappling with a critical staffing deficit. Out of a required 691 health professionals, only 363 are currently in post—leaving a shortfall of 338 personnel.

The gap is raising concerns among stakeholders, as it places increased pressure on existing staff and could affect the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, particularly in rural communities.

Health officials have emphasized the need for urgent recruitment and deployment of additional personnel to bridge the deficit and ensure that residents receive timely and quality care.

While the growing number of facilities reflects progress in healthcare access, addressing the human resource gap remains key to achieving improved health outcomes in the district.
