The exercise brought together heads and staff of decentralised departments and agencies, personnel from the security services, as well as community members.

Participants cleaned the streets of Kintampo Township and the Kyeremankrom and Sawaba markets, where they cleared choked gutters and removed plastic waste, discarded containers and other refuse from the surroundings.

Mr Isaac Donkor, Kintampo Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the Government was committed to improving sanitation across the country and had prioritised proper waste management to help prevent outbreaks of communicable diseases.

He urged residents to take responsibility for keeping their communities clean and support efforts by the Assembly to improve sanitation.

Miss Wuni Fatima, Assistant Municipal Environmental Health Director at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly, however, expressed disappointment over the low turnout of traders and market women for the exercise.

She appealed to traders and residents to actively participate in future sanitation exercises, stressing that maintaining a clean environment was a shared responsibility.

Chief Superintendent Ofori Boateng, Kintampo Municipal Police Commander, commended participants for their commitment and voluntary participation in the exercise.

He expressed the hope that the spirit of volunteerism would be sustained to promote a cleaner environment and contribute to the development of the Municipality.
