The intervention, which targets the communities of Zini and Tiiwi, involves the upgrading, provision and rehabilitation of educational infrastructure, including water closet (WC) facilities, latrines, lavatories and school playgrounds.
The project forms part of broader efforts to enhance access to quality education and create a safe, healthy and conducive learning environment for school children in the district.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve sanitation and hygiene standards in beneficiary schools while also providing modern recreational facilities to support the holistic development of pupils.
Officials noted that the rehabilitation and expansion of educational infrastructure will not only improve teaching and learning outcomes but also contribute to increased school enrolment and retention in the beneficiary communities.
The intervention, sponsored and supported by the European Union (EU) through UNICEF, underscores the commitment of development partners to strengthening Ghana's educational system and ensuring that children, particularly those in rural communities, have access to quality educational facilities.
The beneficiary communities, Zini and Tiiwi, are expected to benefit immensely from the upgraded infrastructure, which will provide a more conducive environment for both teaching and learning.
