Banda District NHIS Office Commissioned to Bring Health Insurance Services Closer to Residents

The newly completed District Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Banda District of the Bono Region has officially been commissioned, marking an important step towards improving access to health insurance services for residents.

The commissioning ceremony brought together the Banda District Chief Executive, Hon. Dongi Peter, Member of Parliament for the Banda Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, officials of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), health sector representatives, traditional leaders, community members and other stakeholders.

The new office is expected to provide a more convenient and conducive environment for residents to access NHIS services, including membership registration, renewal and other health insurance-related services.

Speaking at the ceremony, the stakeholders underscored the importance of bringing essential government services closer to the people, particularly residents in rural communities who often travel long distances to access such services.

The establishment of the office is expected to improve service delivery, facilitate NHIS enrolment and renewal, and make it easier for residents to maintain active membership under the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Hon. Dongi Peter, the Banda District Chief Executive, expressed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve access to essential services and enhance the wellbeing of residents across the district.

The Member of Parliament, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, also joined other stakeholders in highlighting the importance of strengthening health-related services and ensuring that residents can conveniently access the benefits of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The commissioning of the Banda District NHIS Office therefore represents another step towards strengthening public service delivery and bringing essential health insurance services closer to the people of the district.
