Suaman District with its administrative capital Dadieso was carved from Aowin/Suaman and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.

The District forms part of twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana.

The District shares boundaries with the mother District Aowin District to the south. To the north with Bodi District, to the east with Sefwi Akontombra and to the west with Ivory Coast.

The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 20,529 with 10,646 males and 9,883 females.
