The Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana and forms part of the 14 MMDAs in the Western Region.

Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis is located at the south-eastern part of the Western Region. This makes it the smallest, but easily the most highly developed. Indeed, it is the third largest Metropolis in the whole of Ghana. The Administrative Capital of the Metropolitan is Sekondi-Takoradi.

Close to Takoradi Polytechnic, the Konsaworado flows towards the Buthia lagoon, creating an extensive, beautiful marshland. The Essei lagoon lies between Ekuase and Takoradi. It is located on the coast, about 200km west of Accra.

The Metropolis is bordered to the west by Ahanta West Municipal and to the east by Shama District. At the south of the Metropolis is the Atlantic Ocean and at the northern part is Wassa East District. The Metropolis covers land size of 191.7 km2.  

The population of the Metropolis according to 2021 population and housing census stands a t104,837

with 51,734 males and 53,103 females.
