Dormaa West: District Court and Judge’s residence duly commissioned at Nkrankwanta

His Lordship, Justice Gabriel Nene Kwao Mate-Teye , Justice of the Sunyani High Court and a supervising Court judge for Bono , Bono East and the Ahafo Regions respectively , on behalf of the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araaba Essaaba Sackey , commissioned the Nkrankwanta District Court and the Judge’s residence at Nkrankwanta, the capital of Dormaa West.

In his welcome address, the District Chief Executive for Dormaa West, Hon. Oppong Kwadwo Francis attributed the genesis of the project which was solely financed by the Assembly’s Common Fund to his predecessor, Hon. Mary Yaa Ameyaa who formulated the vision and he has successfully implemented it by putting up this beautiful edifice.

Speaking further , the DCE said that this is a testament to the fact that Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the NPP government is ensuring the full functioning of the three arms of government, Rule of Law , Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances. The government is putting all these mechanisms in place to ensure that Human Rights of all citizens are respected and safe guarded and Justice would NOT be only accessible to the privileged, but every single person within the boundaries of Ghana.

His Lordship, Justice Gabriel Nene Mate -Teye on behalf of the Chief Justice hailed the Executive Arm of the government through the District Assembly and the community for making this historical moment possible in the district.

He said the Judicial system of Ghana stands for competence, Integrity and due process in administering Justice. He said the court is not purposely meant for only Prosecution, but also for Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiations, Registrations and other important functions as prescribed by law. He said the court cannot stand alone; it will take vigorous support from the community to be able to work effectively.

On behalf of the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Awo Banahene , she also showed her heartfelt gratitude to the president and his government for simultaneously establishing a court and a judge’s bungalow in a budding district in her region. She assured the people of Dormaa West that they should be getting ready to receive other important projects, as long as the NPP government remains in power. She ended by saying, the assembly and the court workers should maintain a maintenance culture so that the beautiful building will not lose its value and will stand the test of time to be able to serve its purposes.

Bafour Agyei Akyea Akumbi II , the chief of Nkrankwanta in his speech thanked the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the Chief Justice for equipping his Town to fully function as a District capital. He also thanked the DCE for utilizing the Assembly’s Common Fund in such a vital venture. He rained blessings on the Former MP and the Parliamentary Candidate for NPP in Dormaa West, Hon. Ali Maiga Halidu for playing a pivotal role from the inception of the project till now. Nana said the establishment of the court has eased the burden of his people traveling all the way to Dormaa, Wamfie , Berekum and Sunyani for their cases to be tried.

It has also reduced the workload at his palace; at least, some cases would be settled at the law court.

Nana assured the government and the assembly his readiness to give out any piece of land anywhere under his jurisdiction for similar infrastructure when the need arises.

The court was commissioned and a mute court was observed afterwards to show the start of its operation henceforth.
