N JUABEN S: MCE urges Moslem youth to eschew social vices
The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi has bemoaned Moslem youth in the country to eschew all social vices that seeks to jeopardize their talents in future.

He said the youth in Ghana now a days are being faced with a lot of social vices and it is hampering their development as citizens of the country. Among some of the social vices include the challenge of tramol use, marijuana, and teenage pressure among others.

The MCE made the call at the just ended Eid ul-Adha celebration in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

This year’s Eid ul-Adha ceremony, which started at 9am attracted a large number of Muslim worshippers, including the Eastern Regional chief Imam Alhaji Sulemana Yusif Amdani.

Others included other Muslim Chiefs and clerics from across the various Zongo and Muslim communities within the regional capital, all of whom converged at the central mosque to offer prayers and sacrifice to God.

The occasion was also used to observed and re-enact the obedience by Prophet Abraham to obey God’s command to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael, centuries ago. Symbolically, a ram was sacrificed after the prayers.

Eid ul-Adha is a day for Muslims to reaffirm their commitment to worship God and also to emulate the unwavering display of obedience to God by Abraham centuries ago when he heeded God’s command without hesitation to sacrifice his only son.

Hon. Appaw-Gyasi in his address stressed the need to monitor the movement of the youth in society due to the rampant nature of kidnapping in the country, saying, our youth today are facing a lot and there is the need for us as a country to take keen interest in their day-to-day activities.



He further explained that Muslim communities are to ensure that their wards do not engage themselves in any political activity that will mar the 2020 elections, for Ghana is
the only beloved country we have. “We don’t expect anybody to use their parochial interest to destroy the peace of this country” he said.

For his part, the Eastern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Sulemana Yusif Amdani, used the opportunity to pray to God for the lasting peace of the country. He said, Muslims by nature are noted to be peace makers and we the Muslim leaders and communities must ensure that there is peace in all our environs.

“Ghana is peace and we expect all and sundry to embrace peace so that the country will attain its objective of development”, he explained

The Regional Chief Imam reiterated the need for the teaming Muslim youth not to indulge themselves in any political activity that will sought to create tension during 2020 elections.

He further used the occasion to pray for the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration and all other supporting leaders of the economy.
