Over 41 mining equipment intercepted in the operation have also been destroyed following the launch of "Operation Final War" by the Amansie West District Assembly in the Ashanti region.

Speaking to the media after the maiden operation, the District Chief Executive of the Assembly, William Bediako Asante hinted the sustainability of the three day exercise is necessary to bring down the curtain on illegal mining on River Offin in the district and curtail further pollution.

According to him, the Assembly efforts to flush out illegal mining activities is on course and cannot be distorted by some people hailing from outside the district proving not to be law abiding.

He warned and advised those recalcitrant illegal operators to desert their activities or be prepared for any consequences as a result of the looming attack.

He commended the team spirit and resilience of the combat ready taskforce and pledged the Assembly's total support to ensure the victory of the operation.
