1, 000 aged, children to benefit from PMC's free NHIS package

Over one thousand vulnerable people in Wenchi Municipality and Banda District are to benefit from a free national health insurance package fully sponsored by a Philanthropist Alhaji Abdallah Ahmed-Abdallah popularly known as Alhaji PMC, Wenchi based Businessman.

The aged 60 years and above as well as persons under 18 years would be registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) free of charge. Again, those in the category whose cards have expired would be renewed without charge. Banda District has a share of 300 people while Wenchi Municipality has 700.

The initiative is intended to offer uninterrupted access and convenience to affordable quality health-care and enhance the socio-economic conditions of the people. It is also meant to maintain trust and confidence in the Health Insurance Scheme of the country.

Just about a decade since the personal initiative "PMC Health For All Policy" by the kind-hearted man began, the periodic Health and Education packages have already benefited and improved the lives of over 6, 000 people and still counting, in the catchment area.

In the same vein, educational materials, mary-goes-round and other equipment have been distributed to schools as part of his periodic educational package, besides the thousands of students sponsored across the country and beyond the shores of Ghana. He further donated bags of cement towards the construction of CHPS compounds /Health facilities in the municipality. The staunch Moslem also donated sleeping mats to the Moslem community for prayers.



The accomplished Contractor and Statesman widely celebrated for his compassion and father-for-all spirit who announced the package on his 70th Birthday at a mini durbar, said he was touched by the barrage of economic challenges bedeviling the progress and potentials of his people.

Addressing the gathering, the Philanthropist noted that his contribution to national development was crucial, hence the need to dedicate his life to the well-being of humanity.

He used his personal life story to admonish other influential persons in society to prioritize the welfare of their people. He advised the current generation to demonstrate honesty, truthfulness, humility, and develop the suffer-to-gain attitude and eschew get-rich-quick schemes.

The CEO of PMC Africa Group of Companies & Construction Ltd pledged his commitment to the course of improving lives through employment, socio-economic interventions, and special initiatives.



The Municipal Chief Executive Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie who was the Guest Speaker stressed the numerous development projects and life-transforming initiatives undertaken by the government in the areas of Education and Health. He commended Alhaji PMC for his dedication, sacrifice and commitment demonstrated over the years in nation-building, urging other individuals to emulate.

Speakers after speakers including the Municipal Directors for Education and Health underscored the achievements and contributions of the Philanthropist and global icon in construction works.

The occasion also coincided with the commissioning of his newly established Radio West Africa 92.5.
