Wenchi Health Directorate receives PPEs from philanthropist

The Wenchi Municipal Health Directorate has received some Personal Protection Equipment from founder and leader of Hope Global Ghana, after news broke that the Municipality had recorded 42 cases of COVID-19.

The items include 38 Veronica Buckets, 34 washing basins, packs of Cort Sheets liquid soaps, packs of Stain Cleanser, amongst others, worth Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 10, 000. 00).

The Religious leader and Philanthropist Rev Emmanuel Ekumfi-Ameyaw who donated the items said he was alarmed and pushed by the circumstances of confirmed cases placing Wenchi first on the District COVID-19 Distribution Chart of the Bono Region.

The Gospel Minister said the donation was a demonstration of his passion and personal commitment to winning souls for Christ and saving lives to complement the efforts of government and the Municipal Assembly in the fight against the novel Coronavirus since the government could not carry the burden alone. He pledged to monitor and intervene as and when necessary.

The Missionary said the move was in fulfillment of the gospel that enjoins all believers to prioritize the needs and welfare of fellow neighbours.

The Municipal Health Director Robert Kwaku Bio together with his team of Unit Heads who received the items lauded the move by the Missionary. Mr Kwaku Bio further enumerated measures such as Isolation and Treatment Centres, combined Routine Surveillance and Enhanced Tests, Rapid Response Team, Contact Tracing, by his outfit to deal with COVID-19 cases in the area.

He assured the public of a robust municipal health system manned by competently committed and hard-working staff and Frontliners to protect and save lives. He further appealed to all organizations and individuals to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 since the number of recorded cases were most likely to increase.

In his remarks on Public Education and Sensitisation, the Municipal Information Officer of the Information Services Department (ISD) and head of Public & Media Relations for the Municipal Assembly Stanick Sofel Amuzu Kpodo hinted on the door to door and household engagements as part of its campaign drive.
