MP donates GHc 70, 000, PPEs to health facilities to fight COVID-19

The Member of Parliament and Minister for Planning Prof George Gyan-Baffour has donated Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) to health facilities in the Wenchi Constituency to help the fight against the novel Coronavirus.

The items include Veronica Buckets, Hand Sanitizers, Tissues, Nose/Face Masks, Liquid soap, detergents, dust bins, rubber-basins/containers, Hand gloves, amongst others.

The Member of Parliament earlier donated an amount of Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 70, 000.00) to the Wenchi directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and also PPEs to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

The additional beneficiary facilities were St Joseph's Clinic - Koase, Droboso, Tromeso, Nchiraa, Subinso, Wenchi Health Centres, Government Maternity Home, and Emil Hospital. The rest are Buoku, Ayigbe, Amponsakrom CHPS Compounds, amongst others.



The facility heads who received the items shared their peculiar challenges with the MP. Tromeso's major problem was an inadequate water supply. Koase needs an Ambulance and completion of the Surgical Ward project under construction. Droboso needs additional wards to separate male patients from females and children.

Prof Gyan-Baffour hinted that Subinso would be upgraded to Poly-Clinic and others were given a facelift and equipped to enhance quality healthcare. Some of the facilities, including Subinso Health Center would be given generators to ensure a stable power supply.

The challenges, as outlined by the facilities would be attended to, as a matter of priority. He was conducted round in all the facilities visited to assess their conditions.

He expressed his general remarks on the health system in the Municipality, saying it was good but needed improvement to make it better and best.



The MP instantly donated Gun Thermometers to the Government Maternity Home in Wenchi when the Midwife in charge mentioned it as one of their needs.

Some patients who were at the facilities at the time of the visit appealed for the upgrade of their facilities in order to access affordable healthcare. They were also elated for the gesture by the Member of Parliament.
