MP holds joint meeting with MUSEC and MPHEC on COVID-19

The Member of Parliament for Wenchi and Minister for Planning, Prof George Gyan-Baffour has held a joint meeting with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) and the Municipal Public Health Emergency Committee (MPHEC) to discuss and assess measures already initiated by the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and take further measures to curb the importation of the virus into the Municipality.

According to the Planning Minister, he received briefings from the Municipal Chief Executive and Chair for the two Committees, Dr Prince Kwakye Afriyie on activities of the Committees and the impact reports.

The Legislator commended the Committees for hard work and sacrifice to save the area from the pandemic. He called for tougher measures for the Market Centers which seemed to be at high risk.

Prof Gyan-Baffour charged the Information Services Department (ISD) in collaboration with stakeholders to continually intensify Public Sensitization campaign with all the necessary aggressive strategies and available channels to educate the constituents on the disease.

He urged the Media in the area to be circumspect in their reportage on the disease and spread calm not fear. He also cautioned the public against the stigmatization of suspected cases.

The MP and Minister for Planning pledged his unflinching support and government's commitment to saving the lives of the citizenry as a "healthy citizen is a wealthy nation".
