The workshop was also aimed at educating and appreciating the roles of traditional rulers with regards to local governance and rightful succession to thrones in order to reduce Chieftaincy disputes in the country.

In his opening remarks, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Kudjo Edmund Attah, underscored the importance of Traditional Authorities towards the developmental agenda of the government, adding that chiefs and their elders played an important role in enhancing and improving livelihoods of the people.

"I personally have a strong respect for the chieftaincy institution, for traditional authorities continue to play a pivotal role in our socio- economic development as a nation,” he stated.

He acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers during the colonial days when chiefs were used by imperialist to govern their colonies and therefore urged that they are accorded the needed respect and cooperation to move their communities and subjects towards the right destinations.

Mr Attah expressed gratitude to chieftaincy ministry for the partnership and further called on all traditional rulers present to take the workshop seriously in order to harness and achieve the essence of which it was organized.

He ceased the occasion to highlight the government's commitment to expand infrastructure, increase access to free but quality education among other numerous intervention programmes rolled out by the Akufo-Addo led administration.

He thus advised them to be ambassadors of government’s policies and programs including the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Free SHS and the popular Ghana beyond Aid.

The DCE assured them of his readiness to collaborate with them to develop a lot of their subjects and urged them to ensure peace and harmony in their respective communities since that is the conduit for enjoying government interventions.
