Ghana's first ‘Any Time water’ Machine (ATM) unveiled at Vakpo

The North Dayi District Assembly through the help of the central government and Safe Water Network (SWN), a nongovernmental organization, has commission Ghana's first ‘Any Time Water Machine’ (ATM) at Vakpo, a community in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr. Edmund kudjo Attah addressing the people said, the Government of Ghana (GoG) is working tirelessly to achieve the 'water For All' sustainable Development Goal programme by 2030.

Mr. Kudjo Attah added that, a lot is needed to be done in the communities and that the Assembly was fast tracking its universal water coverage by 2020 and needed GHC 2,340.740.00 to achieve its goals.

He then cautions residents of the community to desist from open defecation because it could harm the quality of water and ensure the outbreak of diseases such as typhoid, cholera, malaria among others.

The outgoing minister for sanitation and water Resources, Mr.Kofi Adda, on his part underscored the importance of the ‘ATM machine’ and added that access to basic social services including water supply is a key priority of government.

Mr. Adda encouraged water service providers to adapt emerging technologies, especially digital finance to provide safe water to consumers.

Some key personalities who graced the occasion were Mr. Charles Nimako, country director for Safe Water Network (SWN ) and Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Madam Joycelyn Tetteh.
