North Dayi DCE tours ongoing projects

Mr. Edmund Kudjoh Attah, the District Chief Executive of the North Dayi District on the March 14, 2019 embarked on an inspection tour of some ongoing projects at Aveme within the District.

The purpose of the tour was for the DCE to confirm the state of all projects vis a vis the reports he has been receiving on them.

Inspection of ICT Facility

The first tour took him to a refurbished Information Communications Technology (ICT) Center at Aveme Beme.

This refurbished Centre is an initiative by the District Chief Executive (DCE) in partnership with Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). The project is aimed at equipping the students with ICT knowledge and also help close up the gap in agglomerate with technology since we are in the computer era.

Again, the ICT Centre has a training facility that gives the community the opportunity to study Hardware and Software courses to enable them work for themselves.

Fortunately, the DCE met some students of Aveme Beme Junior High School at the ICT Centre where he took the opportunity to engage and encourage them to take their ICT lessons and other studies seriously in order to match up students in the urban areas.



Requests

A student from the school asked the DCE if he can help secure them some ICT text books and also organize some vacation classes to help them improve their studies.

The DCE in his response, promised to support them with the vacation classes and help to facilitate to procure ICT text book as soon as possible.

Mr. Emmanuel M Tsitsiwu, a NABCO trainee as the Head of the facility, also made mention of some items they need in running the Centre which include: Computer Chairs and Table to complement the existing once, Photocopier Machine, Printer, Mouse Pad, Hard Drive, Internet Access. Generator among others. He also requested for the lightening system of the place to be improved and also a Signage indicating the facility at the front view of the building.

He commended the DCE for the visit on them and promised to keep the place safe to serve the purpose of which it has been established.



Inspection of School Block, Road Project And CHPS Compound

Furthermore, the team moved to inspect a three (3) unit re-habilitation classroom block at Aveme Beme JHS. He was happy with the progress of the project and then asked the Chief Engineer to speed up in getting the place ready for use. Currently, Aveme Beme JHS is sharing the same block with the Primary School.

However, he cautioned them to ensure that the place is disability friendly.

“In conformity with scheduled timelines, it is my hope and expectation that this project will be completed within the next couple of weeks and subsequently furnished with desks for academic work progress steadily” he intimated.

He again, moved to inspect the road construction site at Aveme which where he expressed his displeasure on the quality of work and requested Mr. Chen the Contractor on site to hold on with all works and produce documents pertaining to the contract to ensure diligence and value for money.



We also moved to Aveme Beme CHPS compound to inspect their facilities. At the CHPS compound, we met Mary Genyoh, the Senior Staff Midwife who received us. After the inspection she told the DCE about the needs of the facility including: delivery set, Sterilizer, B/P Apparatus, Ceiling Fans and Chairs for Staff and Patients.

DCE in his response, appreciated the work of the Health workers and promise to do his very best in mitigating their challenges.

The DCE thanked the assembly man and people of Aveme for their warm reception and urged them to continue working hard for the community.



The DCE’s tour was heavily accompanied by Hon. Avor Albert Attah, the Assemblyman for Aveme Gboxome Electoral Area, Hon. Elsie Akpene Folivi, Government Appointee, Emmanuel Kafui Baku, DCE Aide, Elvis Donkor, Moses Ashmond, the Senior Quantity Surveyor at the district, Habel Adukumah as Senior Technician Engineer, Robert Attoh as the District Information Officer and NPP Party Executives.
