A three unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for the establishment of a kindergarten has commenced at Lakeside Primary School in the Krachi East District in the Volta region.

The District Assembly is constructing this facility from its share of the district development facility to improve early childhood development. When completed, it will also provide convenient environment for parents to keep their wards under proper supervision to enable them carry on with their economic undertakings.

Most experts have attributed the falling standard of education to the dwindling number of kindergartens that offer quality and solid foundation to the children at their formative stages of development; hence government has directed assemblies and communities to collaborate with other stakeholders to reverse the trend.

Government also made clear its intention to provide more early childhood development centres across the country. However, for accelerated development other stakeholders must join this noble course to ensure government is not over burden by the huge deficit of KGs in the country.
