Mrs Lordina Mahama, the first lady, has donated assorted items in support for the elderly women resident at the Gambaga Witch Camp in the Northern Region.
 
The items included Milo, mats, cloths, rice, oil, milk, used clothing and cash.
 
The first lady made the donation on Monday when she visited the Camp to ascertain first hand their conditions. She said the elderly women in the Camp deserved the support of all Ghanaians to live decent and dignified lives.
 
The first lady, addressing the women at a community centre in Gambaga, was full of emotion as tears started flowing from her eyes down to her cheeks. Some members of the community seeing the tears, also wept.
 
Hajia Zaynab Mahama, the first Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged the residents to reciprocate the gesture of Mrs Mahama by voting massively for President John Mahama on December 7th so he could win the elections "one touch".
 
Mrs Mahama had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Manprugu, Nayiri at his palace in Nalerigu and informed him about her visit.
 
Nayiri thanked the First Lady and gave her and the President his blessings in the coming elections, stating that the good works of the NDC would ensure victory for the party.
 
At Gambaga, the chief assured the First Lady of his total support for President Mahama’s election bid, saying "he is a humble, peace loving and development oriented person."
 
He was full of praise for the First Lady for making time to visit the women in the ’witch camp’ noting that she was the only First Lady to have visited the camp.
 
Mrs Mahama was accompanied by Ms Sherry Ayittey, Environment, Science and Technology Minister, Mr Moses Mabengba Northern Regional Minister, Hajia Zaynab Mahama, the first Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Hajia Fati Jawula, Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark, Ms Zuwera Ibrahima, Special Aid to the First Lady and Hajia Boya Gariba, Deputy Minister of Women and Children.
