The District Chief Executive for the East Mamprusi District Assembly, Hon. Adam Imoro has advised the youth in the area to eschew all forms of character that will mar successful elections this year.

He reminded them to appreciate the fact that the elections will eventually end in a win-win situation as both candidates from the major political divide contesting for the Parliamentary seat in the area, were all Northerners.

He therefore indicated that no matter the candidate that emerges as the winner, electorates should come together, reconnect and unite to forge ahead the development agenda of the Mamprugu area.

Hon. Imoro made the point, yesterday in his key address at the opening of this year’s Inter-Zonals sports competition of the East Mamprusi district held at the Nalerigu Senior High School.

The DCE also used the platform to re-echo government’s committment in good governance, saying that government has delivered excellently with regards to educational infrastructure within the period of three and half years of the NDC government administration.

He thus asked them to appreciate and cherish all the efforts put up by government to promote quality education in the area.

He reiterated the myriads of educational gains which had been secured in the system in the area.

According to him, the government through its commitment to give education a facelift has upgraded three major second cycle institutions to boarding status.

He also noted that as part of government’s will to deliver on the “Better Ghana” agenda, the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has increased its coverage of the beneficiary schools from as low as 14 schools to 67 translating into 20,100 school children being fed under the programme in the Mamprugu traditional area.

However the DCE called on all the participants to exhibit a real sense of sportsmanship in the ongoing sports competition so as to make the event a successful one in the area.
