Twenty Years of Traditional Reign - The glory so far
The queen-mother of the Ejisu Traditional Council, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II was born to Opanyini Atwima Boateng and Obaapanin Maame Abena Serena (late) of the Asona royal families of Ejisu, one of the historical towns of the Ashanti Kingdom.

She was named Nana Akua Boatemaa at birth. Nana Yaa Asantewaa was enstooled as the queen mother, during the reign of Nana Aboagye Agyei II of blessed memory and has reigned till now. 20years of liberal leadership with fairness, courage, power and authority has led her to achieve some developmental transformation in her land.
It is under her reign that Ejisu's infrastructural bottlenecks are progressing steadily. Amongst some of these, in terms of education is the vocational education school she has established to train every interested girl child to acquire some vocational skill of her choice free of charge.
She is also the life patron of “the virgins club society Ejisu” a non-governmental organisation established to foster education-traditions and culture to the girl child, thus, keeping the dignity and integrity of the human person: that is, the virginity of the girl child till the consummation of her marriage. She has also been able to mobilize all tomatoes traders under her catchment zone, under one umbrella, fostering unity and progress of their business.
Traditionally, she's brought so much peace, unity and stability to her land and looks forward to achieving greater success. Nana Yaa Asantewaa II is married to Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Tunsuomhene of Mampong traditional area.
Hence the successes of the queen call for celebration as she celebrates her twentieth anniversary since ascending the throne. The anniversary started on Wednesday the 15th of January 2020 with the display of the rich Ashanti culture which included some Traditional Fetish Priests display through their prayers to the Almighty God through their gods for a successful anniversary.
Day two of the Anniversary saw the presence of Mama Efe of Nhyira FM’s fame with her programme “Obra” produced inside the Ejisu market.
There was a free Medical Screening on Friday, January 17 together with Muslim Prayers and worship. Saturday, January 18th was the peak of the Anniversary as the Queen sat in her palanquin and displayed some rich colourful cultural performance at the grand durbar at the Okese park (Ejisu).
The Queen together with the Ejisu Traditional Council, the Clergy, the Christian Community and all and sundry from far and near trooped to the Okese park to give thanks and glory to the Almighty for a successful Anniversary on Sunday the 19th January 2020. And crowned with a football gala competition on Monday, 20th Jan.
Ejisu is known worldwide because of the historical success of the great heroes Nana Yaa Asantewaa I who fought against the British in 1901 during the colonial era.
