The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Samuel Oduro Frimpong indicated that, the evacuation is in fulfillment of his promise to clear the refuse dumpsite that has become a burden on the Chief and the entire community during his community engagement with the people on December 15, 2021.

According to him, the move forms part of the government’s policy to ensure that dumpsites close to residential communities are evacuated to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

The Assembly Member of the area, who was speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, said the dumpsite had always been a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies which has often led to the outbreak of malaria and cholera in the area.

The people therefore thanked the government and the MCE for such a prompt response to their plight and promised that they will no longer tolerate dumping of refuse at the site after the evacuation exercise.
