The Ejura Zongo Chiefs and opinion leaders commenced constructing fences around public cemeteries to improve security.
The group pleaded with Ejura Hene, Barima Osei Hwedie for his consent to fence around Ejura public cemeteries as in other parts of the world, for protection against livestock and wildlife, vandalism and grave looting, as well as to clearly define the sacred space and its boundaries.
The Zablama Chief, Sariki Abdul Rahman who is leading on behalf of the Ejura Chief Imam and Zongo Chief stated that fencing also helps maintain order, prevent accidental damage to gravesites, and serves as a symbolic barrier that separates the living from the dead and marks the area as a place of respect.
He added that, there are no dedicated resources or funds from any specific individual, or body but the passion for the success of the initiative pushed for the start through the sacrifices of the people of the Ejura Zongo community, especially the youth.
He said, it is their hope and prayer that their efforts would be noticed and support will come from others so that the project can become a complete success.
