Mrs. Jerryne Asante, Ejisu Municipal Chief Executive has underscored President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC’s commitment to the resetting agenda of the nation’s economy to improve lives and the general standards of living of the people.

She made this statement during her engagement with Ejisu Zongo community, Onwe, Odaho and Donaso communities on Tuesday, 26/8/2025.

Her first port of call was Ejisu Zongo. Leaders of the various ethnic groups: the Bisa leader, Imam of the Halisuna faith, Frafra, Dagomba, Sisaala, Grushi, Fulani and the community members together with the overlord of the Zongo community who is the Chief, Sarakyi Mustapha Mohammed pleaded with the MCE to help the zongo youth in job recruitment whenever there is an opportunity and those who wish to embark on haji pilgrimage.

Aside, the assembly man on behalf of the community presented their urgent needs which included renovation of the existing zongo market, inner roads, mechanized borehole, street lights and modern drainage system.

In response, the MCE reiterated her commitment and that of the NDC gov’t to resetting the nation’s economy for better standards of living. As such, the existing bond between the zongo community and the gov’t cannot be over emphasized. Hence, some zongo youth have already been recruited to head the YEA and NADMO institutions, she disclosed.

And more youth would be recruited anytime clearance for recruitment is given. She however, added that, the youth must also do their part by applying online to any of the advertised jobs.

Hon. Jerryne gave them 20 street bulbs and pledged to provide them with the mechanized borehole by December 2025 and roll out their remaining development needs within the four years tenure.

At Onwe, the chief, Nana Asokwa Danka Gyiabuo II who is also the Bekumhene of Ejisu traditional area, together with his elders and people received the MCE and dignitaries from the assembly.

According to Nana Gyiabuo and his people, priority among their needs is to have the day SHS at Onwe made a boarding by providing the school with dormitories, dining hall, additional classroom blocks and modern place of convenience; to enable greater intake of students from across the region, grading of the deplorable roads network to ease difficulty in commuting, extension of electricity to new sites of the community, infrastructure for M/A and R/C basic schools especially renovation of the crack walls of the RC primary school.

They also called for the operationalization of the regional psychiatric hospital situated there under the agenda 111 of the previous gov’t. Needs of the Odaho people were not different either.

The Gyasehene, Nana Tieku and Nefahene, Nana Adu stated that re-roofing of the licking roof of the only primary school and its fencing, furniture for the school, grading of the inner roads to the new sites and street lights to curb crime were their priority.

Nana Akwasi Agyekum II of Donaso requested for the completion of the JHS block which he built together with the primary school before handing them over to gov’t. and asked for furniture for same.

The assemblyman, Hakeem Mohammed and the unit committee members presented the other needs on behalf of the people. These included, street lights, grading and taring of inner roads, relocation of refuse dumping site, AstroTurf, refuse containers and mechanized potable water for the community.

Hon. Jerryne Asante, in reaction to all of these, underscored the government’s commitment to reset the economy for improved standards of living.

She promised to provide the people of Donaso with the mechanized borehole as a matter of urgency before December this year and 20 street bulbs to improve lighting so as to curb crime.

Besides, she assured all communities that the contractor would soon be back to begin the road works before December after payments for previous works by the previous gov’t is made.

According to her, other needs would be rolled out within the four Years period. Mrs. Asante urged all and sundry that her door is opened for deliberations and urged members to take advantage of the numerous interventions by gov’t such as the youth in apprenticeship, realizers to help farmers, support for PWDs in education, medical and trade,“nkoko nketekete” programme and youth in ICT among others.
