EJISU: Future of our youth buried in illicit drugs - Krontihene of Akawkrom

Their future is buried in these drugs as they find no jobs because there are none. These were contained in the number of needs the Krontihene of Akawkrom, Nana Baffo Tumutuo together with his elders presented to the MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante during her community engagement tour yesterday, 19th august 2025 at Akyawkrom.
Nana Baffo Tumutuo said the youth are jobless and have hooked onto doing drugs maybe just to comfort themselves. But this has led to increase in theft cases and other crimes in the community. Nana entreated the MCE that creation of new job avenues is thus paramount to get the youth of the streets.
The MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante, in response pledged to facilitate governments flagship programmes such one 1000 decoding jobs and youth in apprenticeship are among the major interventions government has introduced to make the youth economically and financially independent.
According to her gov’t would take care of the training expenses of apprentices and also support them with start-up capital when they complete their training. Adding that this also why it is paramount to vote for gov’ts that have “your development at heart” and that is the NDC.
She assured that a narcotics office will be opened soon at the assembly to also educate the youth on the dangers of drug addiction.
