Gyasehene Nana Agyenim Boateng, representative of the Chief and the Okyeame, Nana Asare Bafo received the delegation from Ejisu. According to them, the deplorable condition of the basic school especially the primary is their major headache since development is dependent on one’s level of education. They stated that a new school block is needed but for lack of resources the old can be renovated for use in the meantime.

Equally important for them is the road network to the community. Nana stated that due to the poor nature of the roads coupled with lack of speed ramps several lives have been lost as a result of accidents involving pedestrians -children and adults alike, by speeding vehicles.

People in the community also defecate in the bush due to lack of a place of convenience as the only public toilet available cry for renovation if not construction of a new one. As such they called for a modernized place of convenience to be built for them. Streetlights and extension of electricity to new sites of the community and for the ICT lab built for them by an NGO to be connect for use.

Nana urged that if they wished the MCE should liaise with Ghana Education Service (GES) to have ICT as one of the subjects taught in the school as well as street lighting.

The story was not different at Abenase. Road network to the community is very poor, it has no place of convenience, refuse container and early evacuation of same. Layout for lands in the entire community was advocated for.

The Akwamuhene of Abenase, Nana Wereko Apem who represented the Chief of Abenase Dr. Nana Akuoko Boateng, added that the youth’s involvement in doing illicit drugs is on the increase and it’s destroying their lives. Consequently, he demanded of the MCE to involve the youth in her development agenda especially the girl-child who are dropping out school due to teenage pregnancy.

The third community was Sonsuaso and the most deprived of all in terms of social amenities. The community is not connected to the national electricity grid, it lacks potable water, no CHIPS compound nor clinic, poor roads leading to the community, lacks bridge to link it to its twin community Asuogya; and each time there is heavy rain, the Asuogya community is cut off from the rest of surrounding communities.

Besides, Sonsuaso only has a primary school, making children after completion of primary six to foot or travel 9kms on tricycle to neighbouring communities to access JHS education. The only teacher’s bungalow meant to retain teachers in the community, is left uncompleted for the past 8years.

The Chief of Sonsuaso, Nana Baakuma Yenkyentu I together with the Chief representing Northern farm settlers, Baba Paul Kofi Bayare-Songo pleaded with the MCE to come to their aid in the above-mentioned needs so that teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, diseases resulting from lack of potable water among others can be curbed.

The MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante on her part, promised to fix the water problem as a matter of urgency within few weeks. She reiterated that the other needs would be rolled out within the 4years period to alleviate their suffering.

She pleaded with them that she cannot turn her back to them now that she is in the position to help, adding that the over whelming endorsement given to her and HE. President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections, makes her indebted to them and would do her part to honour them.
