This was disclosed at the Municipal Chief Executive’s community engagement today by Baba Paul Kofi Bayare-Songo, the chief of the northern settlers at Asuogya and its surrounding communities.

Asuogya community is part of Sonsuaso community but is separated by the banko stream. Sonsuaso is predominantly a farming community in the Ejisu municipality with northern settlers occupying the Asuogya and its surrounding communities.

In a passionate appeal, Baba Bayare-Songo pleaded with the MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante to her good office to help drill a borehole for them. He said the lack of potable drinking water is negatively affecting all other aspects of their lives including the education of their children; because the children get tired after spending hours in search of water which makes them also report to school late and tired, thus affects their studies.

He stated that the population of Asuogya and its surrounding communities is not less than five thousand and is growing quite fast thereby worsening the water crisis.

The MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante in her response pledged to attend to the problem within the next few weeks after a more accessible route to the village is confirmed by the assemblyman.

She added that she would have drilled it for them during the election campaign in 2024 but for could not due to time constrain.
