EJISU: Assembly economically empowers PWDs

This year’s Christmas celebration persons with disability (PWDS) in the Ejisu municipality were marked with a great gesture as the Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Beatrice Serwa Derkyi made a presentation of various items to the various categories of PWDs at the forecourt of the municipal assembly on Christmas eve.

The programme which is gradually becoming an annual festival is geared towards addressing the plight and needs of the persons with disabilities and also to put smiles on the faces of the needy.

The MCE in her speech urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items each of them has received. She also admonished those who were yet to receive their share of the items to be patient and exercise retrain as it will get to their turn.



The MCE also pleaded with all who graced the occasion especially persons with disability to proclaim the good deeds of the government and for that matter the president so that he can be given a second chance.

In all, there were 27 beneficiaries who received various items they had requested. The items were made up of 11 deep freezers,3 metal containers(mobile shops), 2 shoe grinding machines, 2 puff machines, one oven with accessories, 1 fufu pounding machine, I knitting machine, 3 sewing machines, 2 hairdryers, and a popcorn machine.



The chairman for the occasion who is also the chairperson for the Disability Management Fund Committee (DFMC), Dr. Emmanuel Asiedu in his opening remarks stated he was very grateful to the MCE for coming to the aid of PWDS and also for effective disbursement of their share of the common fund.

He also reiterated the need for the PWDS to make effective use of items they had received. He said this will enable each individual to create wealth for himself or herself; adding that disability is never an inability.
