Denkyembour District Assembly embarks on projects

Among the projects is the rehabilitation of the Akwatia second market, popularly called Akwadum Market.
According to Mr Ofori Abrokwa, District Chief Executive (DCE), the Assembly is constructing 32 lockable stores in a storey building at the market, 16 stores at the ground floor and another 16 stores at the first floor.
He said, work on the ground floor has already been completed, and that on the first floor has started.
Mr Abrokwa said, two markets shed with the capacity to accommodate 120 traders, have been completed and ready for occupation.
The DCE said, the old market has been reshaped, and already part of the market has concrete floor, and the construction of sheds has began.
He said, the meat shop at the market has been rehabilitated, and four iron gates provided, with the employment of a security man.
Mr Abrokwa said, at the Akwatia lorry station, work has started on an abandoned block for 24 lockable stores, and the project is currently at the roofing level.
He said work has also started on a road to connect Akwatia to Kusi, with a planned bridge over River Birim.
Mr Abrokwaa noted that, the road when completed would shorten the distance from Akwatia to places like Akyem Wenchi and Akyem Oda.
