Assembly inaugurates Audit Committee

The Denkyembour District Assembly has inaugurated a new District Audit Committee under section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

The newly inaugurated Committee, chaired by Dr. Eric Kofi Boadi, is expected to provide an oversight financial report at the Assembly level.

Other members of the committee include; Mr. Abdul-Rahman Salam, a representative of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Kwame Addo Baffour, a representative of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), Mr. Asante Kennedy, Presiding Member for the Assembly, Mr. Owusu-Smith Desmond and Mrs. Doris Korang Nyarko, Secretary to the Committee.


The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Seth Birikorang Ofosu, who presided over the inaugural ceremony, charged the Committee to perform their duties in accordance with Act 921.

He asked the members to ensure they implement the audit recommendations contained in both the internal and external audit reports.

He also admonished members to equip themselves with the relevant laws as well as bring their professional knowledge and expertise to bear on the work so as to contribute to the development of the district.



On behalf of the team, Dr. Eric Kofi Boadi, expressed his appreciation for the privilege given them and pledged that that they will exhibit financial discipline and act diligently according to their mandate. He also called on the management of the district assembly to support the activities of the committee.

The Deputy Director for the Internal Audit Agency, on behalf of the Director General also urged the committee to act in accordance with the Public Financial Management Act which mandates them to implement recommendations from management letters of the Audit Service and any other audit report that has financial implication on the district.


He also mentioned that the committee has the power to investigate any matter of fraud within the district and encouraged them to live up to expectation as a committee for their term of office.
