The exercise was aimed at extending warm greetings to the traditional authorities of the various communities for successfully going through another traditional year and the Ohum festival season and also to take the views and opinions of the people within the communities.
It was also an avenue for the people in those communities to voice out their needs and to find possible ways to address those needs. The District Chief Executive and his team visited a total of 6 communities. Some of these 6 communities also had other communities present who paid homage to the said communities.
The major communities visited included Boadua, Apinamang, Dwenase, Topremang, Okumaning and Akwatia. Key stakeholders who included chiefs, elders, pastors and opinion leaders from other communities such as Sakyikrom, Sika ne Asem, Agbodzi and Apampatia were present at the gathering at Topremang.
Community leaders from communities such as Afiafiso, Bredu, Agya Ayeh, Apraku, Ayafere and Fante New Town were also present at the gathering at Okumaning since they all paid homage to the Osabarima of Okumaning. Sub-chiefs, elders and leaders from No 4, Anweaso, Asubone, Dogbatse, Alafia, Mmofra nfa Adwen and GCD Camp were also at the gathering at Akwatia.
Major problems raised by the chiefs and opinion leaders were the issues of chieftaincy disputes at Boadua, concerns of the commissioning of the district court to improve upon justice within the district, improving of facilities at the newly instituted Denkyembour Technical Institute at Topremang, poor performance of the just ended BECE examination and reshaping of deplorable roads within the district.
The District Chief Executive mentioned to all stakeholders that all challenges and problems expressed would be soon resolved. He mentioned that plans were far advanced to resolve challenges such as reshaping of roads and improving the performance of BECE within the district. He also presented donations to all communities in support of the Ohum festival celebration.
