The DCE addressing the church explained that a YES vote will empower the citizens to hold their (MMDCAs) more accountable and will also give the citizens the opportunity to make contributions in the day-to-day activities of the assemblies.
He said the upcoming referendum is in fulfillment of the President Nana Akufo-Addo led government campaign promise of bringing governance to the doorsteps of the people.
Mr. Kusi, therefore, added that the vote is in order to successfully amend Article 55(3) of the Constitution to allow political parties sponsor candidates for local government elections, and for voters to be able to hold political parties directly accountable for their stewardship at the local and not just the national level.
