Mr. Hassan explained that the National LPG policy provides a backing for a new LPG distribution model which is centered on the use of Cylinder Recirculation Model as the market structure adding that the model involves filling of the LPG cylinders at the bottling plants and then supplying the filled cylinders to consumers at specialized retail outlets called exchange points.

The consumer exchanges his or her empty cylinder for a filled one at the exchange point and pay for only the gas ranging from the preferred kilos of the consumer.

He mentioned that, there will be different sizes of cylinders to meet the needs of all income earners. The centers will have different sizes including 3kg and 6kg to cater for those who would want to purchase smaller quantities.

The CEO also noted that the new policy will operate together with the existing market structure until NPA gradually phase out the old market structure. "The plan is to have the new model fully take over by the end of 2019 while Industry stakeholders will be continuously engaged throughout the transition period", he said.

Lawyer Bernard Owiredu Junior who was part of the committee in creating the policy said people of Akwatia should embrace the initiative because it make gas accessible and also create a lot of jobs in the District .
