Asokwa Municipal Assembly present items to Persons with Disability

The Asokwa Municipal Assembly has presented food and hand washing items to Persons living With Disability in the Municipality.

The gesture forms part of the Assembly's effort aimed at mitigating the difficult situations persons who are vulnerable in society are going through due to the lockdown announced in the wake of the COVID-19.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Mr. Akwannuasa Gyimah said the Assembly after deliberations with the Social Welfare Department and Representative of Persons with Disability decided to put their portion of their common fund to good use.



He added that the funds was used in purchasing rice, gari, cooking oil, bottled water, and soft drinks as well as hand sanitizers to deal with hunger and sanitary issues pertaining to the outbreak of the deadly disease.

"The Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and Representative of the Persons with Disability decided alongside the MP, Mrs. Patricia Appiagyei to buy foodstuff and handwashing items to distribute to those who are vulnerable in the PWDs ", the MCE intimated.



Taking delivery of the items on behalf of the PWDs in the area, Madam Afi Awetsi, Representative of PWDs in Asokwa said the Association was grateful for the gesture by the Assembly.
