It was organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA) in collaboration with United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).

Interacting with the youth, Dr. Bawumia said the occasion was meant to celebrate the large demography of our youth, and commended the organizers for organising such a programme and that the theme “Transforming Education” was excellently coined to suit the occasion.

He also commended the youth leaders for bringing back the lost glory through the ongoing sustainable youth programmes which the government has outlined to facilitate and sustain the Ghana beyond Aid idea. The occasion was also meant to listen to the youth and hear what they were bringing on board as future leaders.

He was of the opinion that, the future belongs to the youth and government has outlined a number of interventions to zero down on joblessness among the youth. A clear example is the Nation Builder’s Corp (NABCO), Planting for Food and Job, One District One Factory among others.

He said the future belongs the youth and that the time was rife for them to vanquish the impossibilities in their lives. He said the youth should believe in themselves and have the can do spirit to transcend or thrive through thick and thin.

Again, He commended the duplicate youth in parliament session and that what the youth had demonstrated and debated had shown that the future is bright for this country. He said, “Transforming Education” the role of the youth fits well into the government agenda to make education more accessible to the youth. It is government plans to measure the nation’s educational sector to that of other countries.

This means that the educational curriculum is currently undergoing transformation to pave way for practical education. He promised that the current administration would do all it could to strengthen the structures in the education sector.

He said since the current administration came into office, they have doubled the capitation grant from GH? 4.00 to GH? 10.00, increased the number of schools benefitting from school feeding programme, and re-installed the Teacher and Nurses allowances among many others.

He used the occasion to applaud the efforts of Mamfe Methodist Girls SHS (MEGHISS) for placing Ghana on the World Map when they came tops in the World’s Robofest Competition in Michigan, USA.

In conclusion, he said the country was sturdily and gradually going through digital transformation in all facet of the economy. He emphasized that in the educational sector, every Senior High School would benefit from a Free Wi-Fi country wide and this would be done gradually to cover the entire nation. “A new country is being built to support Ghana beyond Aid”. He concluded.

Earlier, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North, Hon. Denis Edward Aboagye on behalf of the Eastern Regional Minister also encouraged the youth to be abreast with current trends especially those at the Akuapem Ridge. He said they should work hard and not relent on their educational prowess.

He reminded the gathering that formal education began in Akuapem. He pepped-up the youth especially to take delight in studies so as to assume leadership position in future. Other speakers also took turn to interrupt with the gathering.
