The concept ‘Mindset Ship’ is to change the mindset of people and encourage them in setting up private and individual businesses as well as setting them up for business entrepreneurship. In other words, it means helping entrepreneur starters to break the myth surrounding certain jobs.

Interacting with participants, the head of Ghana Enterprise Agency outfit in Akuapem North, Madam Mariam Kyere explained that the programme was in agreement with government agenda on the creation of job opportunities for the teeming youth.

She said the Mindset Ship programme covers three (3) different categories namely Agric and Agric Business to Entrepreneurs (AA2E), Apprentice to Entrepreneurs (A2E), and Women and women Related Businesses (NBA).

Again, she pointed out that the programme is the first of its kind to have been outlined by the Ministry of trade and Industry and that the exercise targets about Five Thousand (5000) young people from every nuke and cranny of the entire municipality.

She also emphasized that the youth are too excited and anxious as they visited the Business Resource Centre on daily basis for enquiries. She asked the overzealous youth to exercise a bit of restraint because the training programme is spread over four (4) years and that the first badge targeted about two Hundred and Eighty-Five (285) entrepreneurs.

However, in the course of the training, some two Hundred and Fifty (250) participants made up of both masters and apprentices were put into various groups, gained skills through thorough training, and eventually getting employment. After the training, participants were supervised to sign contracts.

In addition, participants were given working tools to establish their various businesses. She also informed the public to be on the lookout for the next cohort that begins in July and ends in October / November, 2024.

Interacting with participants, most of them were so elated about the programme indicating that it will no doubt reduce the ratio of unemployment to a large extent in society.

However, one master entrepreneur was of the opinion that this is the second time he has benefited from such training and that the sponsorship packages attached to apprentices’ graduation was mind blowing, he concluded.
