Berekum West DCE presents motorbikes to Assembly Members

As part of government's efforts to support Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA's) to play significant roles in the development of the economy, the District Chief Executive for Berekum West Mr. Dominic Oppong has presented motorbikes to twenty eight Assembly Members to help facilitate their movement in the discharge of their duties in the district.

Speaking at a short ceremony to present the motor bikes, the DCE noted that, the motorbikes are in fulfillment of the President’s agenda to enhance development in the various MMDA’s.

He was thankful to government for constantly resourcing MMDAs to deliver and called on Assembly members to make the most efficient use of the bikes.

He urged them to ride safely and abide by all road regulations. “As you go about your activities on the bikes, bear in mind that, many motor accidents occur as a result of over speeding and careless driving” he said.

The Presiding Member (PM) Nana Anthony Addai Kwain who received the bikes on behalf of the Assembly Members, thanked the DCE describing the presentation as timely. He was particularly grateful to government for assisting assembly members in this regard.

He said that, the motor bikes would go a long way to help them effectively discharge their duty of maintaining close contact with their electoral areas and take part in communal and developmental activities among others.

He assured the MCE that they would ensure regular maintenance of the motorbikes to prolong its life span.
