A non-governmental Organisation (NGO), 4-H is collaborating with the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Directorates of Agriculture and Education to establish a National Youth Training Centre in the municipality.

The project to be cited at Boti will serve as training, resource and project development centre to promote youth development, provide employment and income as well as help generate revenue from eco-tourism in the area.

Addressing Assembly Members at a meeting, Municipal Chief Executive, Andrews Sodah said as part of its contributions towards the success of the project, the Assembly is expected to acquire about four (4) acres of land for the project at Boti. He therefore called for the support of the House for the project.

Still on youth development, Mr. Sodah said the assembly has taken some measures to regulate the activities of game centre operators in the municipality. He said the measures have become necessary following the negative impacts on teaching and learning.

As such, the Assembly in conjunction with the Police Service clamped down on illegal game centres and arrested the operators. This, he said will continue and called on all Assembly Members to be part of the fight by reporting illegal game centres in their areas for appropriate action to be taken.

"We have also tasked the Municipal Information Officer (MIO) to develop a code of ethics for consideration and adoption by the House to regulate the operations of game centres", he stated.
