The Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly has adopted measures to prevent unplanned physical development and the springing up of slums.
As part of the measures, it has set up a seven-member Lands Committee to critically scrutinize the planning scheme of the various communities, to make sure that lay-out preparations are done properly.
It will also closely monitor the operations of the Assemblys building inspectors, to check unprofessional and corrupt practices.
The committee is composed of the District Director of the Town and Country Planning, Stool Lands Administrator, the District Engineer and assembly members.
Mr Kwaku Kaakyire Oppong-Kyekyeku, District Chief Executive (DCE) at a ceremony to inaugurate it, said the Assembly was determined to bring discipline and sanity into land management in the area.
He urged the members to work hard, and with dedication to achieve the intended goal.
He invited the chiefs, land owners and other stakeholders to co-operate with the committee.
