The District Chief Executive for Affigya Kwabre, Mr Oppong Kyekyeku Kaakyire has urged the Youth in the country to be agents of development by contributing in their own small way in developing their communities.

This, he noted, is the only way they can help push the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ forward. Mr Kaakyire was speaking at the inauguration of a fun club known as ‘Greatest Fun Club’ at Mpobi in the Affigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region.

The DCE said rural community’s development and improvement of livelihoods in Ghana had become a major concern for Government and would welcome such collaboration like the ‘Greatest Fun Club’ partnership and promised to help it achieve its aims.

Mr Kaakyire announced the District development plans for 2014 including the re-habitation of the Mpobi Junior High School, the construction of the Wawase-Mpobi road, the expansion of streetlights among others and assured the people of government commitment to sharing the national cake equitably.

He said for government to advance the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’, there should be concerted efforts from committed, dedicated, disciplined and time curious Ghanaians to achieve that and called on parents and guardians to be committed in sending their wards to school and making sure they stay to complete.

The Assembly man for the area, Hon. Nicholas Brannya, who gave brief background of the club, said the club was formed in 2010 with a membership of about 45, who have a common aim of resurrecting the spirit of communalism in the area.

Hon. Nicholas Brannya, who is also the Vice chairman of the club, said since the establishment of the club it had changed the face of the area. He said the club had been able to construct round-about to ensure safety of the inhabitants among others and assured the DCE, the chief and the people of the club’s commitment to helping in the development of the community.

He therefore appealed to the assembly, NGOs and all well meaning citizens of the area to contribute immensely towards the success of the club in achieving its targets.
