Re-nominated District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya-Kwabre, Mr Kwaku Kaakyire Oppong-Kyekyeku, has received the approval of the assembly.

The DCE, who had just completed his first four-year term, polled 49 votes out of the 58 cast, representing 84.5 per cent.

This was at the general meeting of the assembly held at Kodie.

The election was supervised by the Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Samuel Sarpong.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him and called for their continued support, cooperation and understanding, adding that, they need to work together to bring development to people in the area.

The assembly had earlier elected Mr. Osei Yaw Anning as its Presiding Member.

He stood unopposed after Nana Boakye Yiadom Atonsa, the incumbent, had withdrawn his nomination.
